survived a near-fatal heart attack. Last year, he

An iconic figure in America, Dick Gregory has been an activist for change in our society since the early 1960s and later an equally compelling activist for natural foods and holistic health. Gregory rise to fame first started as a comedian in Chicago in routines that boldly (at the time) and humorously address the race issue. He then replaced comedian Professor Irwin Corey at the famed Playboy Club in Chicago, wound up appearing on the high-rated Jack Paar Show and releasing his first comedy album, In Living Black and White.
Gregory became involved in the Civil Rights and anti-war movements, not only through commentary, but in placing himself physically in the heart of battle. He also sought political office, once for mayor of Chicago and then, in 1968, as a candidate for President of the United States on the Freedom and Peace Party ticket.
Gregory has been a long-time vegetarian and has frequently gone on fasts, many of them as protests or statements against injustices in society. He has developed diets to promote health and well-being, and has spoken on natural health subjects as vigorously and with as much passion as he has on politics and society.
At the Maya city of Tortuguero, Monument 6 was carved in 669 AD and conveys to us what 2012 means. The king who crafted this amazing text was named Lord Jaguar, and he had a very special relationship with the 2012 date. Maya expert John Major Jenkins combines this with other texts from Tortuguero to reveal a profound and amazing new angle on the evolving 2012 story.
John Major Jenkins is an independent researcher who has devoted himself to reconstructing ancient Mayan cosmology and philosophy. Since 1986, John has traveled to Mexico and Central America seven times. In 1990 he helped build a school in San Pedro, near Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.
